Lustrum 02:51
The church bell rings A choir sings Blood soaked into the street The suspect fled Then resisted Cameras reveal deceit 300 million witness And still the juries dismiss The politicians chatter, and we all Know whose lives matter Apologies New committees That don’t change anything A solemn vow And yet somehow An empty magazine 300 million witness And still the juries dismiss The politicians chatter, and we all Know whose lives matter

All of your hopes and dreams All of your patient schemes None of it matters now Fall to your knees and bow Steamroller rollin’ on It comes for everyone The dice are in the air No one will hear your prayer Rota Fortunae Ev’ryone has to die None of the good you’ve done Will change what’s yet to come There’s nowhere left to run From fat Wheels rollin’ down Rollin’ ‘til your dead Steamroller rollin’ on
3.
In my soul a dream that no one’s seen I lie awake and wonder if it can be To find a secret pattern beyond the stars Or are we whispers to the crashing tidal wave, fireflies in jars Crafting a story that can’t be told Starting the fire that never goes cold Our choices engrave the script in our soul Impossible hope, unreachable goal The answers live among the dead, we ask anyway Risking everything is the price we pay In contradictions we ride to the shore Until one day the whisper becomes a roar Crafting a story that can’t be told Starting the fire that never goes cold Our choices engrave the script in our soul Impossible hope, unreachable goal In contradictions we ride to the shore Until one day the whisper becomes a roar
4.
Hypnotic 02:12
Drone, stare, into the bright hypnotic glare Nothing better to do Live the life we tell you to More, more Lust, greed, we’ll convince you that you need The newest shiny thing That love is a blood diamond ring Buy, buy It isn’t happenstance You drift in ignorance Wake the fuck up Brown, Black, all with a chip on their back If they want equal rights Why can’t they just act like whites? Blame, blame Hate, fear, we’ll tell you who belongs here They’ll come and ruin it all We’ll keep you safe with a wall Hate, hate The lies that you’ve been fed Corrupt your heart and head Wake the fuck up Lies, spin, look at the big mess we’re in You’re alternative facts Drive a knife into our backs Tears, death
5.
Nightmare without end, men with twisted hearts, make us live on our knees Beatings murders rapes, bodies hung and burned, and left swinging in the trees Father’s back was scarred, they’d cut off his leg, for something that he said Mother tried to run, but cowards led by hounds, set her soul free with lead Their spirits burn in me The will to fight Their spirits call to me Head north by night The nightmare will not end, men with twisted hearts, you know you must appease Whatever they say, always call them sir, and say thank you and please Swallow all your pride, keep your eyes cast down, and keep your hands in view Never lose your cool, don’t make sudden moves, they’ll take your life from you Their spirits burn in us We have to fight Their spirits call to us North by night These nightmares must end, if we don’t wake up, injustice will prevail Families torn apart, Black lives sabotaged, and children thrown in jail Sister headed north, when NAFTA came to town, la migra took her heart Brother walking home, cops saw Black and shot, life cut off at the start Their spirits burn in us The will to fight Their spirits call to us North by night
6.
Lycanthropy 02:50
I say my prayers each day To wash your pain away My heart is true Through and through Your pain was not my aim Don’t say that I’m to blame Different times Those weren’t my crimes Day, night, friend, foe Life, death, fiend, soul This isn’t me You came to me in dreams All is not as it seems Can you believe You’re just like me Something that should not be Boiling inside of me I can’t understand Aren’t I human? You are the wolf Run, hide, fight, die This isn’t me Is this a fantasy? A beast inside of me? Is this a part of me? Or is this just me?

Rodomontade 02:19
Time Another tide Another road Without a guide Say You better pray A better day Will come your way Would you change places in time With mine? Climb Outside your mind Along the line To the sublime Dream A subtle seam Another truth Behind a scheme Would you change places in time With mine? See Tranquility And you will know What you must be Mend As you ascend Another path Without an end Would you change places in time With mine?

At Rest 03:12
I’ll be there soon it’s not too far From the moon to my northern star My heart’s already there with you Sharing a spectacular view Where I’ll never be alone In this place we call our own where we can be at rest I’ll wait up ‘til the light appears I’ll hold you close I’ll dry your tears And we’ll live forever in between In spaces no ones ever seen There I’ll never be alone In this place we call our own Where we can be at rest I’ve tasted the most beautiful world We’re like two ice cream flavor swirled Under a scorching summer sun We melted until we were one, And I’ll never be alone In this place we call our own Where we can be at rest
9.
Luggage tossed from the train, heirlooms now debris The gate rusted from rain, reads work sets you free Here angels ever tread, amidst the carnage The sky smoke-filled and red, we’re at the cliffs edge Razor wire stretches on for miles and miles But you’ll never take my will to smile What is to give light, must endure burning My flame blazes starlight, emitting meaning You’ve locked all of the doors, you think my spirit died I’m bruised, battered and sore, and I’m laughing inside Razor wire stretches on for miles and miles But you’ll never take my will to smile Withdrawing deeper now, to where my soul breathes We will survive somehow, this place no one leaves Before you embers stand, not numbers to file This is a horrorland, but life is beautiful Razor wire stretches on for miles and miles But you’ll never take my will to smile
10.
Hollow 02:26
I won’t be silent Just to save you face ‘Cause we know this was an unfair race And I won’t deny What you do somehow You know the lie’s dying faster now Believe me I can understand That you’re holding on to what you can But this truth will not be contained All your victories are hollow and blood stained Well it’s plain to see If you wanted to But you’re scared of what it says about you People forced to kneel People forced to crawl Just so you can feel like you are tall, but you’re worth nothing at all Believe me I can understand That you’re holding on to what you can But this truth will not be contained All your victories are hollow and blood stained Hollow and blood stained

about

The members of Black Door '74 met while working together in upstate New York, where they bonded over their shared passion for creating meaning through music. Afrostotle, Frost E. Beatz, and Rigo bring multiple musical influences to bear on the band's sounds. The result is a unique mixture of rich melodies and memorable musical and lyrical hooks that add up to music that has been compared to artists as varied as Cat Stevens, Rage Against the Machine, War, and The Melvins.

Black Door ‘74 began with the three members having fun making music in Frost E. Beatz’s basement. When the pandemic hit, the members found ways to keep making new music, despite lockdowns and life taking each of the three members to a different state. Now, several years on, Black Door ’74’s debut album breaks new ground in the tradition of music that speaks truth to power.
